ABOUT THE MULLUM MINI HYDRO PROJECT
The Story So Far...
COREM & THE MULLUM MINI HYDRO PROJECT
COREM formed in 2014 and in 2015 the Hydro Sub-committee was formed with a few to trying to get the old Mullumbimby hydro power station running again.
Michael Hart and Svea Pitman were the main stayers of this group and they worked on relationships with the key stakeholders over the coming year.
In 2017 a significant milestone was achieved when they were successful in receiving some NSW government support to facilitate a large group meeting and site visit.
There are a number of government departments and agencies that have to be involved in this project and this meeting was a great opportunity to have everyone come together and discuss the possibility of going forward with a pre-feasibility study.
There was positive support for this across the board, however it took us another 8 months to secure the $22 000 NSW Department of Planning and Environment Clean Energy Knowledge Sharing Initiative funding.
This was in February 2018, hoever due to red-tape in Sydney the funds were not received until July this year.
Since July Svea has been working as the employed Project Manager and has facilitated the pre-feasibility study.
This report will be launched to the community on the 11th of October 2018, along with the new Mullum Mini Hydro website.
